About the Program

The Graduate Program in University Administration (PPGAU) at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina began its activities in the second semester of 2010, offering a Professional Master’s Degree Program in University Administration, accredited by Ordinance No. 1045, of 18/08/10, DOU (Federal Official Gazette) of 19/08/10, sec 1, p 10

The PPGAU is accredited by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel of the Ministry of Education (CAPES/MEC), having obtained grade 4 (out of 5) in the 2013-2016 CAPES evaluation.

The Professional Master’s in University Administration began its activities amidst great national challenges, but supported by experienced partners inside and outside UFSC, such as:
– UFSC itself, as an institution recognized nationally and internationally in the area of university management;
– The Institute for Research and Studies in University Administration – INPEAU (the old NUPEAU), which over the last two decades has been standing out in the area of university management;
– The Department of Administrative Sciences, which in the 1970s created the first Master’s Degree in Administration of the country to include an area of concentration in University Administration; and
– The old Prorectorate for Human and Social Development, which contributed to the training and qualification of UFSC technical and administrative personnel, through the offer of ongoing courses in the area of university management.
In addition to these, it is worth mentioning the international partnerships with Latin American and European universities, as well as with the Inter-American University Organization (OUI), which includes the IGLU course – an initiative that since 1984 has been forming university leaderships in Brazil and in other countries in the Americas.

The Professional Master’s Degree in University Administration is structured around contents that aim at improving professional performance and allowing a more critical, reflexive and creative posture in their professional environment.

With a multidisciplinary curriculum, the program prepares professionals for the appropriate performance of their functions, in the interest of continuous improvement, and in the search for scientific knowledge that allows the re-adaptation of educational systems and processes in changing environments.

The Graduate Program in University Administration aims to train highly qualified professionals capable of building new knowledge and practices in university administration with a view to institutional development.
